Disposal Warning

Properly disposing of LiFePO4 batteries is crucial for safety and sustainability. Find out how to handle them responsibly here.

Introduction

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are a type of rechargeable battery known for their high energy density, long lifespan, and stable performance. However, like all batteries, they require proper disposal when they reach the end of their useful life or if they are damaged or malfunctioning. Improper disposal of LiFePO4 batteries can pose environmental and safety hazards due to the materials they contain. This manual aims to provide guidance on the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of LiFePO4 batteries.

Precautions Before Disposal

Before disposing of LiFePO4 batteries, take the following precautions:

  • Ensure the battery is fully discharged to minimize the risk of short-circuiting or thermal runaway during handling and transportation.
  • Inspect the battery for any signs of damage, leakage, or swelling. If the battery is damaged or swollen, handle it with extreme caution and refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for dealing with damaged batteries.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and safety goggles, when handling batteries to protect against any potential chemical exposure.

Disposal Options

There are several options for the disposal of LiFePO4 batteries, including recycling, disposal at designated collection points, and professional disposal services. Here are the recommended disposal methods:

  • Recycling: LiFePO4 batteries contain valuable materials such as lithium, iron, phosphorus, and other metals that can be recycled. Many municipalities and recycling centers accept LiFePO4 batteries for recycling. Contact your local recycling facility or municipal waste management department to inquire about battery recycling programs in your area.
  • Designated Collection Points: Some retailers or manufacturers may offer collection points or take-back programs for used batteries. These programs are designed to facilitate the proper disposal and recycling of batteries, including LiFePO4 batteries. Check with battery retailers, electronics stores, or the manufacturer of the battery for information on available collection points or take-back programs.
  • Professional Disposal Services: If you are unable to find a suitable recycling option or collection point, consider engaging professional disposal services specializing in hazardous waste management. These services are equipped to handle the safe disposal of various types of batteries, including LiFePO4 batteries, in compliance with environmental regulations.

Disposal Procedures

When disposing of LiFePO4 batteries, follow these procedures:

  • Package the batteries securely to prevent damage or leakage during transportation. Use non-conductive materials such as cardboard or plastic to insulate the batteries and minimize the risk of short-circuiting.
  • Clearly label the package as containing "Used LiFePO4 Batteries" or "Hazardous Waste" to alert handlers to the contents and ensure proper handling.
  • Transport the packaged batteries to the designated disposal facility or collection point following any applicable regulations or guidelines for the transportation of hazardous materials.

Environmental Considerations

Proper disposal of LiFePO4 batteries is essential for minimizing environmental impact and preventing pollution. By recycling LiFePO4 batteries, valuable resources can be recovered, and the risk of hazardous materials leaching into the environment is reduced. Always choose recycling or proper disposal methods over throwing LiFePO4 batteries into regular household waste.

Conclusion

Disposing of LiFePO4 batteries responsibly is essential for protecting the environment and human health. By following the guidelines outlined in this manual, you can ensure that LiFePO4 batteries are safely and environmentally responsibly disposed of at the end of their useful life. Remember to always prioritize recycling and proper disposal methods to minimize the environmental impact of battery waste. If you have any questions or concerns about the disposal of LiFePO4 batteries, consult with local authorities or environmental agencies for further guidance.

Battery Management System

The E-Rod® features integrated battery technology which completely eliminates the need for cords or bulky strap-on batteries. An internal computer closely monitors all aspects of battery use, ensuring a safe and user-friendly experience.

Each time the system powers on, the battery management system performs a full diagnostic check. This ensures all internal components are functioning correctly before use. Any irregularities are identified immediately to prevent performance issues. This startup check helps maintain reliability and user confidence.

The system actively prevents the battery from being overcharged or drained beyond safe limits. This protection helps extend overall battery lifespan and maintain consistent performance. It also reduces the risk of overheating or damage during charging cycles. Users can operate the device with confidence knowing safeguards are always in place.

Built-in protection immediately detects and responds to short circuit conditions. The system shuts down power flow to prevent damage to internal components. This rapid response enhances overall safety during operation and charging. It also protects both the battery and connected electronics from unexpected faults or water intrusion.

The battery system automatically regulates current output to a maximum of 24 amps. This ensures optimal performance without exceeding safe operating limits. By managing power delivery internally, the system prevents strain on the battery. This results in more consistent operation and improved longevity.

The battery management system continuously balances charge levels across individual cells. This helps maintain even performance and prevents uneven wear. Balanced cells improve overall efficiency and extend battery life. It also ensures reliable output throughout each use cycle.

A custom-designed power management system optimizes how energy is delivered and consumed. It intelligently adjusts performance based on usage conditions. This results in improved efficiency and longer run times. The system is engineered specifically to support the E-ROD experience.

The battery supports rapid charging to minimize downtime between uses. Advanced charging controls ensure speed without compromising battery health. This allows users to get back to fishing more quickly. The system balances charging efficiency with long term durability.

With its remaining power indication, you'll always know how much power is left in your Dominion E-Rod. A green light indicates 70-100 percent power remaining, blue indicates 30-70 percent, red indicates 10-30 percent, and flashing red indicates 0-10 percent remaining.

The E-Rod is compatible with the majority of Daiwa and Shimano electric reels. Each rod has an assortment of recommended reels. Please visit the product pages for additional information.

Our jigging and micro deep drop series are by far the biggest sellers, specifically the Versit and Patriot.

Our rods, battery packs, and butts are all made in Stuart, Florida.

You can find details about our warranty here

This will depend on the reel the E-Rod is paired with and how it's being used. Our jigging and handheld deep drop rods (Versit, Cloud, Patriot, Gulf Coast Edition, and Elite) typically last all day (sometimes two) depending on the size of fish and the depth you are fishing. Our kite rods can last multiple days on one charge when being used for dredges or kite retrieval. Out bent/straight butt rods typically last 3 - 5 hours when non-stop fishing depending on the reel, lead size, size of the fish, and rate of throttle. Longer run times can be achieved by backing off the throttle slightly.

The first version of the Dominion E-Rod was released to the public on January 1st, 2024.

What They’re Saying

“With the battery built into the butt it is FANTASTIC!!! LIGHT, BALANCED, AND EFFECTIVE!”
Sidney Gold
Verified Customer
“Both rods performed amazingly. The verist rod was fun jigging up to 20oz in 700-800ft. The gulf cost rod handled lead from 1lb up to 48oz up to 900ft with no issues.”
Rocco Del Vecchio
Verified Customer
“Nice rod easier than messing with cords and external batteries. Came in just in time for a charter trip with a young boy with a broken arm so he was still able to fish. Will likely be getting a few more.”
