E-Rod Elite Overview

Jeremy from Dominion Rods introduces the E-Rod Elite, the top model in the jigging series and the strongest, most feature-rich rod in that lineup.

Like the Cloud, the Elite comes standard with the quick swap butt system, allowing the battery to be removed and replaced in seconds, ideal for multi-day trips or drift boat fishing where carrying spare batteries is a must. Simply unscrew, pull off, pop on a fresh one, and get back to fishing.

Where the Elite distinguishes itself from the rest of the jigging series is in its components and blank strength. It features an aluminum reel seat capable of supporting heavier micro jigging reels like the Daiwa Mega Twin 500, acid wrapped chameleon guides for a premium look and smooth line flow, and a 40–50 lb jigging blank built to handle heavier loads. This makes it an excellent choice for targeting deep species like golden tilefish, vermilion snapper, and queen snapper using heavier jigs, while also being fully capable as a deep drop rod.

For deep dropping, Jeremy recommends running 20–30 lb test line to maximize water cutting ability and minimize the lead needed, typically just 16–20 oz to reach depths of 700 feet in mild current, stepping up to 25–30 oz in stronger 3–4 knot conditions. A significant improvement over the traditional 5–7 lb lead setups. Paired with a double hook chicken rig, the Elite's sensitive tip keeps you connected to what's happening at the bottom, making bite detection a clear advantage of the setup.
