Rigging a Jig the Easy Way
Instructional Videos
In this guide, Jeremy from Dominion Rods walks through the straightforward rigging setup he recommends for use with the E-Rod, with an emphasis on keeping things easy without sacrificing effectiveness.
The focus is on vertical jigging with no need for elaborate swivels or fancy knots. The one essential knot to know is the double uni knot, used to connect a 4–10 foot length of 30–40 lb fluorocarbon leader to your braided main line. He demonstrates the technique step by step: overlapping the two lines running in opposite directions, making about six wraps with the fluoro or mono, wetting the knot, then sliding and pulling tight before trimming the tag ends. While the FG knot or PR bobbin knot are slightly more ideal, the double uni is reliable and gets the job done.
When it comes to attaching the jig to the leader, Jeremy recommends a single uni knot tied directly to the ring that connects to the hook rather than the split ring. Whether or not you choose to add a barrel swivel or loop for added lure movement is a matter of preference, but keeping it simple works just as well.
